Same here. My dad, and I played it in French (he taught French back then, and my French was getting better thanks to the games we played), but years later, I played both Syberia 1, and 2 alone in English to know what it was really about. We also beat a lot games multiple times, including Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3: Nemesis, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Dino Crisis 1 and 2, Silent Hill, etc. We
were pretty much survival/horror fanatics.😂
And speaking of addiction, I haven’t played anything for like a year and a half, focusing on nothing but work in IT, but I decided to give Elden Ring a shot to make up for the fact that I haven’t finished Dark Souls, Sekiro, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt yet; I do have my game save files for both Dark Souls, and the Witcher 3, and now that Elden Ring got me hooked, I plan to go back to finish the Witcher 3, and then Dark Souls, and maybe Sekiro, too. I admit that I have a habit of going all in when I start playing a game to the point where I end up playing for literally 24 hours straight. Heck, just yesterday, I don’t even remember how long I played Elden Ring, but all I know is that I went to bed at around noon the next day, and woke up at around 9AM the day after that to the point where my mom was like, “I haven’t seen you for 2 days.” 😂 I looked in the mirror before hitting the sack, and I noticed there was a “red streak” in my right eye; something which I haven’t seen in years.I spent the whole day enhancing my character, and my main weapon that it only took me 1 attempt to kill Godrick The Grafted. 😂 I tried to defeat him when I wasn’t ready at all (I didn’t even have the fireproof liver item to protect me from fire damage, and I didn’t bother to try more than 3-5 times, but I was surprised that it only took 1 try to eff him up with my current build, knowing that sometimes I end up dying to the weakest rando I could find. 😂)
And you’re absolutely right; anything can turn into an addiction, because there’s a fine line between integrating a harmless fun activity into one’s daily routine (in a healthy way), and becoming dangerously obsessed with something that nothing else matters anymore. Personally, I only got my revenge, because it’s the weekend, knowing that lately, I’ve been very, very good at adopting only good habits like that itself can be a fun game of sorts once you get the hang of it. For instance, I went from not working out at all to a daily 6-minute warmup, then I noticed I still got back pain sometimes, so I upped it to 22 minutes a day (except Sundays (recent adjustment), because rest is just as important. 😅)
My initial comment:
My favorite point-and-click adventure game of all time! Thanks, FitGirl!
I remember the first time I played the Syberia 2 Demo brought to us on a DVD by my brother’s best friend (may he rest in peace) back in 2006. 🤩 Didn’t even have Internet at home, so I had no idea how to download “full games” back then. 😅 But that changed not long after. 🏴☠️
