One of the 2 Guys Who Inspired Me to Become a Legendary IT Passed Away Today — Rest in Peace, Imad Messkal

From my deleted Twitter account:

The Twitter character limit doesn’t really do this awesome guy justice. I’ve never seen him stir up drama of any kind, always cheerful, and making jokes on the fly. He once felt bad for calling a homeboy by the wrong name, and we ended up turning it into a philosophical topic. Imagine, feeling bad for not wanting to make someone feel like they don’t matter just because you got their name wrong — which happens when you spend a lot of time with someone else so their name gets stuck for a while. Imad Messkal was empathetic like that, and I admired that about him, especially that in our masculine society, it’s nearly impossible to find guys who share that seemingly vulnerable side. Back in 2006, Imad made our Pentium III not so boring when he hooked us up with a lot of DVDs full of funny YouTube videos, game demos like Syberia, music from all over the world, etc. He really was one of the very few people who inspired me to become a real-life Neo Anderson in the world of computers. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. Losing such a legendary guy really felt like a glitch in the Matrix. Can you imagine? Dropping dead at 35, while playing soccer in the evening, while your 2-year-old daughter, and your wife are waiting for you at home? It makes no fucking sense! If only the wicked got to leave this world sooner instead. Rest in peace, brother.
