My Comment on EPIC HARDWARE’s “Don’t Buy a Liquid Cooler in Egypt or the Gulf” Video

Very interesting video, Mohamed! I’ve always noticed how temps on GN’s tests were always relatively low, and it made sense that that’s due to the ambient temps being lower compared to someone living in Egypt or gulf countries.

Anyway, I’ve recently ordered Arctic Freezer II 240 A-RGB from Amazon, and I can’t wait to pair it with my 12700K. It’s 20 degrees Celsius right now in my city (Tetouan), so I’m very hopeful that I’ll have pretty good results. I was going to get an NH-D15 Chromax Black, especially that my first experience with liquid coolers was crap back in 2016, but I wanted to give liquid coolers another chance (many tech reviewers recommend Arctic Freezer II including Gamers Nexus), so if things go sideways again, I’ll be more than justified to not mess with liquid coolers again — at least for the foreseeable future. For the first few years, I had no way of mounting my Corsair H100i GTX to my NOX Coolbay VX case, so I switched to an MSI Vampiric 010, but by that time, the liquid cooler had already started dying, so I bought a decent air cooler (Hyper 212 LED), which worked better than the liquid cooler ever did. This could be the last day I ever use my core i7-5820K, paired with Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition (I sold the Hyper 212 LED version to a friend who had a throttling issue using the stock cooler that comes with Ryzen 5 3600X with or without PBO enabled.) When idle, it’s at ~36-37C, and ~65-70C on full load (OC’d @ 4.30GHz, 1.285V, with EIST, and C-State enabled. I used the Arctic MX-4 thermal paste.) I’ve rocked this bad boy 5th-gen CPU for almost 7 years now. Man, it’s crazy how I went from Core 2 Quad Q9300 (early 2011) to Core i7-5820K (late 2015), and in a day or two, I’ll be upgrading to 12700K. I just hope the liquid cooler doesn’t get stuck in customs, because that’s the only remaining piece of the puzzle. I’ve been staring at my new motherboard, and CPU for days now. I couldn’t find any decent coolers for LGA 1700 on local online stores. The local store I wanted to buy NH-D15 Chromax Black from didn’t even bother to call me back in order to confirm my order; I should’ve known that it being 50 bucks cheaper was too good to be true. Oh, well. shrugs
