My Comment on Logitech’s “Why Romer-G Mechanical Gaming Switches for Mechanical Keyboards?”

A refurbished G413 Carbon (with Romer-G switches) didn’t even last a year before it started with the nightmarish key chatter (ordered it on Feb 22nd, 2020, threw it in the closet around January of last year, since it was nothing but a glorified one-port USB hub). It started with right SHIFT out of the box, then the space bar, and now too many buttons that I stopped bothering to look into it, and settled for a 20-dollar membrane keyboard that has no key chatter whatsoever. All hail membrane, I guess, since as person who types up to 130 words per minute, I can never tolerate key chatter, and spending a hundred bucks on a mechanical keyboard as my first experience, and then it turns out to be trash, well, let’s just say that qualifies as a “Top 10 Anime Betrayals”. I’m never buying a mechanical keyboard again unless I can test it thoroughly. Also, local stores (here in Morocco) sell only the AZERTY version, and even though I don’t even look at the keyboard while typing, I would still prefer to get a QWERTY (US) version, which means Amazon is my only option, but then I’d have to pay twice the price when you include import fees, and shipping, and I’d still risk having to deal key chatter out of the box, and I don’t think returning it would be an option, so fuck it. I’m keeping my hard-earned cash.
