My Comment on ThioJoe's Secrets of Windows Notepad

Didn’t know a single one of those (except the obvious encoding stuff)+ I use Notepad++ with the Registry hack that replaces Notepad completely. Pretty cool though. I think I’ll remote into my cousin’s PC later to change the “When Notepad starts” setting to “Open a new window”, because I just loathe how he accidentally opens a million files with Notepad, even binaries that stay open from previous sessions forever.

If you’re on Windows 11, and you’re interested in making Notepad++ override regular Notepad completely, feel free to use the code below (for Notepad++ 64-bit version):
