Repair-scare fear-porn “software” is no substitute for quality hardware, limited software, and regular maintenance, I’ve used this formula since P.C.’s were a thing on multi-terminal networks without major issues. Correcting issues with even more software to digest is never the answer, thanks for bringing this to light for less experienced users.

I concur. I, myself, am a “There’s no need to use multiple pieces of software that do the same thing” kind of guy; a minimalist of sorts, because I’m also a data hoarder. 😅 I remember using AVG TuneUp 2010, and TuneUp Utilities 2008 before that on Pentium 3s, and Pentium 4s, and the point was to just get whatever performance possible out of the crappy hardware, but as soon as I got myself a SATA SSD (Crucial BX100), and a Core i7-5820K back in 2015, it made those programs even more irrelevant than they were before. The only decent thing about them is that they make it easier to tweak stuff on multiple PCs (like at a cybercafe where restoring image backups was a hit-or-miss on those vomit-inducing Dell Optiplex GX250s) in a user-friendly way instead of having to use Windows built-in tools like regedit.exe, and gpedit.msc. Come to think of it, it would still be better to just use .REG files found online to tweak stuff with a single click, and a single .BAT file to clean all temporary files in one go. 😅 Moral of the story: If you notice that everyone’s selling the same thing with a slightly different GUI, then that’s a good sign to keep your money. Mindless consumerism, and placebo are a bad mix.
