In my experience, Morocco can only be the ideal option if you have the ability to work online from home. The minute I started hustling online, I stopped glorifying Western countries, and realized that happiness is a state of mind. I felt like I had to make peace with my laziness by letting it dictate my life choices in a way, making sure I never drown in failure or self-pity, and it worked — my hate for bureaucracy and paperwork also helped. Now I make what a Moroccan high school teacher does, but with way less effort, and way less responsibilities — and I never wake up to an alarm no matter what. I’m basically getting paid for doing what I love (geeky IT stuff); something which I used to do — for myself — for free anyway. My Israeli employer is super reasonable, and cares more about results than whether I wake up at 8AM or at midnight for that matter. 😅 And I have a lot of free time to do whatever the hell I want.
Anyway, if you’re tired of the infamously depressing UK weather, and vomit-inducing cockney accents, and think you can figure out a way to make money from home (like offering legal consultations or something like that), Morocco will be perfect for you, especially that the cost of living here is dirt cheap if one doesn’t rely on traditional jobs. Maybe it’ll be hard to adapt at first, since drastic changes are never easy, but it’s worth a try. And like someone else said, you can always go back if things don’t go your way. Good luck! 🤞🏻
