You’re not wrong there, Alex. My JSS dropped to 99% out of the blue soon after I got the TOP RATED badge for the second time in 5 weeks, and there were at least 3 possibilities. One guy I helped in the blink of an eye with a CSS issue, so he ended the contract abruptly, and left a 5-star review. The total was $0.83, since my work ethic doesn’t allow me to milk the clock like most greedy freelancers do.
😂 Second, a disgruntled Canadian woman who first left a 5-star review, but then a 4-star one for not wanting to work with her anymore, knowing that all the pending jobs were done perfectly, and she approved the milestones, and everything, so I have no clue why she decided to treat the second review as if she were grading my exam paper — I guess she couldn’t handle rejection after she thought all third-world freelancers were subservient nobodies. 😂 If I were obnoxious like that, most of my clients would get 1 star for everything, since most of them disappear for days on end, and I have to improvise where I could’ve gotten all the data I needed from them to save time.
The third was an Australian guy who said I had a sh*tty attitude after I pointed out that his question was so generic that I didn’t know how to answer it. I doubt the last guy had any effect on my JSS even though I did get suspended because he reported me, but since there was no contract involved, I figured both the suspension, and his Karen/Susan attitude didn’t have anything to do with my JSS, and the “Recent account holds” still says 0.
I wish Upwork were transparent about the JSS, because some of us don’t want to manipulate the system; some of us want to know what we did wrong, because that’s the kind of criticism that really matters; not the shady kind where you have no clue what you did wrong as if you were dating a master manipulator or something. 😅
